Did you know…?

  • Races may take place on ‘open roads’, closed roads, or purpose built circuits. All Youth racing must take place on closed roads or circuits that are closed to other users.
  • Road Cycling first formed part of the School Games back in 2010. 2 x Junior Road World Champion Lucy Garner competed as part of the East Midlands Team in this event along with the track event the year previous.
  • Many riders who competed at the School Games have now moved on to Pro & Pro Continental Teams, Amy Roberts & Owain Douall (Wales) & Jon Dibben (South) are just a few!

How it Works

There will be 13 teams at the Games: England North East, England North West, England Yorkshire, England East Midlands, England West Midlands, England Eastern, England Central, England South East, England South West, England South, Scotland, Ulster and Wales.
To be eligible to compete, riders must hold a UCI racing licence. Riders wishing to compete for an English region, Scotland or Wales must be members of British Cycling and may only compete for the region/nation stated on their racing licence. Riders wishing to compete for Ulster must be members of Cycling Ulster.

The Cycling selection policy is different for each region. Each region decides on different events (within their region) to act as selection events as determined by the regional boards.

For regional selection details please visit the British Cycling site here.
